Muga Ghicha Scarf – HOFUNAKI

Muga Ghicha Scarf

For centuries, the craft of weaving has been passed down through generations of women in the villages of Northeastern India. The scarves in this collection, inspired by the gifts of handwoven fabric traditionally exchanged in this region during the Spring, present a contemporary opportunity to extend a unique tradition.

Muga Ghicha is a medium weight fabric that combines the warp of pure muga with the weft of Muga Ghicha or waste. It can be used for upholstery.

Each piece is 100% silk, hand-woven in the villages of Assam, India. The naturally occurring variations are part of the beauty of these organic silks. A portion of the proceeds from Hofunaki is reinvested to sustain the culture of weaving and support the livelihood of the women and their communities.
